Marbletown Park on Tongore Road (off RT. 209)

This years featured musical performer will be the jazz of the Rebecca Coupe Franks Trio. Rebecca Coupe Franks is a trumpet/flugelhorn player with an exuberant sense of swing. Her compostions have earned her the title of being a leading innovator in jazz. From winning acclaim in the John Lennnon International Song Writing Contest, to television shows (Melrose Place, Law and Order, Beverly Hills 90210) and film (Sundance Film Festival) using her original music, Rebecca's compositions are getting airtime in an increasing number of arenas. Rebecca Coupe Frank's latest release, Exhibition: Tribute to Joe Henderson is a superb blend of her melodic and memorable compositions combined with her expressive and exciting trumpet playing. -all written to honor Rebeccas friend and mentor, the late, great tenor saxophonist, Joe Henderson. She will be releasing a new album later this year, where along with jazz, she explores other musical directions. Rebecca will be joined at this show by master bassist and composer John Menegon and the internationally-acclaimed jazz pianist and composer, Francesca Tanksley. Opening the show MAA is very happy to have back, “Dog on Fleas”.

Fun music for kids and adults. Dog on Fleas is comprised of “a bunch of friends who like to get together and play music, get a little silly, and see if they can get kids dancin' and thinkin'. They use a variety of instruments including fiddle, drums, trombone, saxophone, congas, bass, guitar, piano, pots and pans, and plenty of singing, in musical styles ranging from calypso to zydeco, old-time fiddle songs to funk. The Fleas' leader, Dean Jones, writes many of their songs, with themes about respect, self-esteem, creativity, ecology, and diversity. Mind you, there are plenty of nonsense songs, and a few sly cover songs thrown into the mix.” (www.dogonfleas.com)

Bathtub Music calls them: “a riot! Kids love them. Parents rave about them (until about the hundredth listen). Acoustic/ electric/ wacky/genuine/ thought-provoking/ eclectic sounds/ no talking down to kids. You'll be hooked.”

Chronogram Magazine says: “Dog on Fleas doesn’t pander to children. It treats kids as sensible, thinking creatures that can make logical leaps in song.”Attendees of the event are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and blanket. A vintage ice-cream truck will be on hand for the opportunity to purchase a cool, sweet treat. All are invited to spend the first part of the evening constructing their own unique lanterns, guided by Marbletown Arts Association members. A variety of lantern-making supplies will be available. During this time the music will begin and continue until the end. The lanterns will be hung around the park and at dusk will be lit to add their glow to that of the stars and fireflies. You can take your lantern home anytime during the event.

Tickets are available at the event. Admission is $7 adults, children free. For more information call (845) 687-2280. For info and directions to the park, visit www.marbarts.com.
